10 Ideas for Marketing Your Business Offline
There are many ways to market your business both offline and
online and ideally you should do both for maximum impact.
Let's look at 10 ways you could market your business offline
effectively.
1 The first that comes to mind is
advertising in newspapers and or magazines. Depending on the nature of
your business and the service or product it offers you can use classified ads or
full page ads in local or national newspapers. Better still try to
negotiate an editorial if you are taking out full page advertising. This
will give you far more exposure and the space to get your message across in an
article.
2 Post flyers in shops and homes or
alternatively have flyers inserted into local newspapers that are distributed
freely.
3 Purchase a mailing list specific to your
service or product and send direct mail to that list. Since they are
targeted you know they are likely to be interested in your offering.
4 Never skimp on business cards. Make
sure yours are printed on high quality paper, are professionally designed and
easy to read. Be sure that your card states succinctly the nature of your
business. Leave business cards at any meetings or events you attend and
with all previous and potential customers.
5 Brand products with your business name
i.e. pens, calendars, diaries and give them away especially at Christmas.
6 Offer free consultations/advice on your
service. Maybe even a free trial.
7 Host a local event for a cause or charity you care about.
As well as doing good in the community it will give you exposure and the
opportunity to meet lots of potential customers.
8 Remember it is easier to get repeat
business from a customer than acquire a new one. Review your past
customers, write a personal letter or telephone them. Find out if they
were happy with your service or offer a discount etc.
9 If you have the budget advertise on local
radio and offer a time limited discount.
10 Contact other business in the area who
compliment rather than compete with your business to see if you can do a joint
promotion or offer that will benefit you both. An excellent example I have
recently seen is having a DVD of your choice delivered with your curry on
weekend nights - boosting sales for both the video store owner and the
restaurant owner saving the customer a trip to both.
If you have a website always make sure you include your
website address in all you offline advertising. Additionally, you should
track all your offline advertising so you know which form of advertising is
working best for you and bringing you the most business so that you know where
to concentrate your efforts and advertising budget.
